Michael Morgan
Throughout my career, I have encountered common themes. In particular, I have found that people in senior roles see real value in sharing and exploring their agendas, their issues and their aspirations with someone who is able to support and stretch them.
Experience
Following two years in the computer industry, Michael joined Northern Foods. His initial work was in the dairy sector where he was appointed a director with overall responsibility for HR. He subsequently took the HR role for the whole of Northern Foods before being appointed to the Plc Board in 1984. This role exposed him to the challenges of handling change arising from mergers, takeovers and business rationalisation. In addition, he worked extensively on issues relating to board dynamics, structure and management succession as well as on front-line industrial relations. Michael remained a main board director of Northern Foods until he joined The Change Partnership in 2001.
Michael has used his extensive private sector experience to contribute to the public sector. He has held numerous public sector appointments, including Vice Chairman of the Northern and Yorkshire Regional Health Authority which served over 7 million people. In 2001, he was appointed by the Lord Chancellor to the Sentencing Advisory Panel which advises the Lord Chief Justice’s Council on sentencing guidelines. He is also a member of the Chief Medical Officers Advisory Group.
In his coaching Michael believes passionately that individuals are capable of a wide spectrum of performance which is optimised where there is clarity of purpose, self confidence and team compatibility. He seeks to promote these by listening, constructive challenging and being a sounding board to help individuals develop their own plans and work through the issues that arise on the way. He is particularly experienced at handling the challenges presented by change – whether arising from promotion, business rationalisation or the cultural issues of takeover or expansion.

Since 2001, Michael has coached top-level men and women in the public and private sectors in the UK and Europe.
